Here's what other Amazon readers are saying about this series:

★★★★★ This is the second book in the series, and I think it actually outshines the first book. A world divided with the water controlled by a single city. This is a world in crisis. Throw in a war of gods, with this divided world as the battlefield and you get a solid fantasy with action, compelling characters and mythology mixed in.

★★★★★ When The God’s War is a refreshing, enticing, and enjoyable read that will leave you both satisfied and looking forward to more.

About the Author

I'm S.C. Stokes but everyone calls me Sam. I'm a die-hard reader, author, unapologetic nerd and chief consumer of pizza (don't worry it has all 5 food groups, and this is a judgment-free zone right?) I love to build exciting new worlds, currently, I have two series. A Kingdom Divided, an Epic Fantasy adventure replete with all the swordcraft, sorcery, and shenanigans you can handle. The second is an Urban Fantasy Series Conjuring A Coroner where Kasey Chase (resident witch and regular bad ass) is locked in a race against time to save New York City.

What a wonderfully scripted book. You really do not want to put this book down because of all what is going on. Lots of intrigue.
I am anxiously waiting for his next novel

I was given the opportunity to review t his Novel for which I thank Samuel Stokes.
I must say this is a universe where mythology is king so if you are a person of a one sovereign being be aware to read it that way.
With those to points out of the way. If you would like to read about a new unique fantasy world with lots of magic and battles from all sorts of diverse cultures this is a great series to delve into. I enjoyed the first book in the series I was invited to continue to read and review more. I grabbed the opportunity with gusto, but was questioning why I did as I began the first third of book 2. There were so many storyline I became quite confused with what, where and how in the book. However I can understand after I got beyond that first part of the book because boy did those many tales intertwine. By the second third was complete I was totally understood why it was done. These diverse cultures had to show why they were at war and which side that they supported and why. Of course it was the nasty gods in this universe that caused the troubles and the plot continued to thicken as the book finely began to release it's story.
There is only a few who were from book one because it was in a totally different part of this world. I was left with the impression the next book may tie even more of this world and finely make all the cultures come together, maybe even to make the gods stop pitting all against each other. However that is to Mr Stokes pleasure. I look forward to his next installment with anticipation to see how he will go about that take.
Oh another bit of stories at the end, but at this point I expected them.
It is a bit gory in spots, but they are battle scenes so it wasn't unexpected.
I wish ebooks had maps so I had to make the map in my head. Because of that it became a bit confusing on where everyone was located, but it only slightly detracted from my reading.
Many names were similar which in the beginning could add to confusion.
However I would recommend the book even with these few issues.

Stokes has again started us off on a tale of heroes and legends where the action builds to an epic battle. Great read. Highly recommend.

An exciting sequel that wove both books and characters together. I enjoyed how everything connected and how we’re beginning to see the bigger picture.
I didn’t care for the main character of this story as much as the other characters. The story wasn’t so much about her as it was about the gods and the different nations.
I loved seeing the previous characters from the first book in this one as well.
I look forward to reading the thrilling conclusion!

SC (Sam) Stokes A Kingdom Divided Bk 2 When the Gods War Reviewed 11/21/16

Yaneera is the youngest Empress in the history of Andara. With her land in turmoil, she must use her wit and cunning just to stay alive. Severe drought has brought with it famine, starvation, and death. As her people waver on the verge of open rebellion, Yaneera must deliver them or perish at their hand. Andara’s struggles have not gone unnoticed. Neighboring kingdoms stand ready to deliver the killing blow. As chaos erupts across the land a stranger appears in the Empress’ court. Preaching the presence of a new God, Mythos, the newcomer promises deliverance for Yaneera and her people. Mythos power is not without a price, and Yaneera soon finds herself facing a crisis of conscience. . . Will she sell her soul to save her people?

What did I like? I just finished book one and loved it and this one did not let me down. It continues with the same unbelievable action-packed adventure with so much more!

What will you like? Besides the total action, sorcery, lots of dragons, heroism, treachery, and even a little romance, what more could you possibly want in a book? Maybe a war between opposing powers and good and evil? It is one action-packed adventure from start to finish! I am on to the final book and can’t wait. When the Gods War is the exciting sequel to A Coronation of Kings. It can be read as a stand-alone novel or as book two in the A Kingdom Divided series. I received this from the Author in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and not edited by anyone but me.

So......i liked this book. It started a little slow for me and things were having a hard time fitting together. However once i got pasts the initial "gods" part in the beginning things really took off for me. I liked the magic system that was set up, different but good. Each person that used it got to use it in a semi-different way which i liked. Different groups of people and subsystems of people and creatures. The battle on the main planet was good and heavy with death. I'm not sure about the battle in the cosmos but maybe in another book? Other than that i was a good read it kept my attention and i look forward to another book.
